2/6/2013 Welcome to June...This year continues to fly by so quickly. As stated in Picture Of The Month, Nuw attended Deal Motor Show on 25th May, the full report can be seen here. We really enjoyed this show and I took some lovely pictures of Nuw heading to the event stuck in traffic. Paul and myself have also started stripping out 7681's rear end in readiness to get to the leaking oil seal in the prop shaft. Along with 1178 that's our two big projects started now. The parts for 1178's metal work are being all sorted out by Paul and will hopefully be fitted by us when we get time. I'm hoping this month to put 5137 up for test again now that the brakes have been sorted out (back in March). The delay in sending her back for test was trying to find a local test centre to avoid the 100 mile round trip to Maidstone which although the guys there do an excellent job and are really friendly, the cost of 50 litres of full pushed up the price somewhat... Anyhow, I think we've solved the problem but I'm not saying anything else for now. Apologies in advance if the website goes a tad quiet over the next few months, Claire and me are moving home so things may end up a little bit all over the place but we'll do our best to keep you informed of things as and when they happen, and don't forget that both The Bamford & Sea;y Bus Collection and Southern Counties are on Facebook where you'll find additional news and additional pictures.
15/4/2013 Detling Report. This pictures from our trip to the South East Bus Festival are now on line and can be seen HERE. This was a really fantastic day out and if you couldn't make it do try to visit next year. You won't be disappointed.
25/2/2013 February Work. This month we have been getting 5137 ready for her MOT next month. Paul, who rebuilt the seized throttle valve, installed it back on the bus whilst Andy and myself cleaned the rather dusty interior. I gave her a brief test run around the yard and with the rebuilt valve drives very smoothly.
12/8/2012 Website updatesAfter uploading some of Herne Bay's pictures to the computer, I realised I'd not added the Preston or Chilli Farm pictures to the site. Apologies. Things are a tad busy, normal service will shortly be resumed! I've now added the reports with Preston Steam Rally and Chilli Farm now live. Just click on the links to visit the galleries.
12/6/2012 Nuw video. On Sunday 10th June 2012 we attended the Thanet Road Run in our Titan 'Nuw'. Just the two buses were there this year, us and Paul Houselander in RVB977S The Pride Of Thanet open top. The run commenced at Ramsgate and passed through Broadstairs, St Peters, Palm Bay, Margate and Westgate where we stopped for lunch. We then continued onwards to Minnis Bay before returning via Minster, Manston airport, Westwood Bus Garage and finishing back in Ramsgate. A full report and pictures to follow soon. 28/9/2010 0 Comments New Vehicles Joining our Fleet! We have some new arrivals in the Bamford Sealy fleet. New to East Kent Leyland National EFN178L which was owned by Fiends of the East Kent until earlier this month. 1178 was saved and restored by Carl Underwood after working in the Nottingham area for GK Kinch as a mobility bus. She is currently restored in the 'de-reg rhubard and custard' livery the same as 7980. 1178 needs a new drivers side windscreen and a few electrical jobs done and she should be fit for an MOT. We're hoping to get her out and about this year - something she's sadly missed out on for about 4 years. We also have a limited run of shares available in her if your interested in becoming a part owner. CONTACT ME for more information on this.
Today Bernard and me picked up new to London Transport Leyland Titan T553 (NUW553Y, HIG5681) which was really off the radar and somewhat out of the range of our collection you may think? Well, no not really. NUW worked for Stagecoach when she left London and was converted to single door and 'provincial' style destination panel so as she stands she is more Stagecoach than London and makes a very tidy bus. These Titans worked everywhere in the Stagecoach network when they left London, from Bluebird in Scotland to East Kent and everywhere in between! We may use a little 'artistic license' here, after all, the Stagecoach stripes aren't really a classic enough livery for a preserved bus! NUW will be appearing in a 'heritage livery' of a Stagecoach subsidary that operated the ex London Titans, and no, it's not the old East Kent livery! NUW laterly served with Roberts Coaches of Wingham who of course ran former T953 as HIG5682. This was subject of a recent NEWS post so I won't recap apart from saying NUW was VERY close to heading off to the scrap yard too. In fact only a last minute phone call at 0715 that morning saved her from being driven off to scrap at 1000. They don't get closer than that! NUW comes with an MOT and is ready to roll. She needs a damn good clean out thugh having spent 6 or 7 years taking the local cherubs to and from school. Both buses bring new technology into our fleet, air suspension and dodgey electrical systems (7681 please take note!) so this should be an interesting learning curve. Look out for new webpages on the site for both buses coming soon to this site. |
